Part 10 of Pokéthrones!
The War of the Five Kingdoms erupts when Giovanni, in a move either of great daring or great impatience, makes his claim to the Arcane Throne. His bandit Rocket clan proves larger than anyone could have guessed, and his great wealth wins over many great Houses, even a kingdom; the Elite Four of Kalos support Giovanni’s claim, over the objections of nearly half of their lords and vassals. The shogunates of the other four kingdoms hastily scramble to contain the new threat; Hoenn invades Johto to march on Mt. Silver, Unova and Sinnoh ally their fleets in a northern blockade, and in a shocking move, the shaken Johto and Kanto unite around the claim of Gary of House Oak.
In such a war, the Night’s Watch would make a hearty profit selling their swords to one side or the other. However, the commanders of the Watch have not forgotten their true purpose: defend the world from dark and mystical forces, like the Doom of ice and fire that supposedly broke the imperial line. And when most of Unova becomes trapped in a giant wall of ice, they fear that those dark forces have returned. They build a fortress at the base of the wall and summon all their warriors to it. Many refuse the call in favor of the spoils of war…but Ash and his friends heed it.
(A little B2W2 reference there, and I suppose putting the Wall in Unova makes the Dragon clan the wildlings in this series.)
